Celtics, Sixers meet in South Philly
Apr 14, 2014 - 2:12 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - A pair of Atlantic Division foes hoping to close out the season on a high note get together Monday, as the Boston Celtics take on the Philadelphia 76ers at Wells Fargo Center. The Celtics have won two in a row since losing nine straight and recorded a 111-99 victory at Cleveland on Saturday behind 25 points from Kelly Olynyk and Avery Bradley. Jeff Green and Brandon Bass scored 19 points apiece for the Celtics, who survived a 41-22 difference in the fourth quarter.
"We were shorthanded as far as bodies go, but all eight guys were pretty good and were locked in tonight," Celtics coach Brad Stevens said.
Boston played without key contributors in Rajon Rondo, Jared Sullinger, Jerryd Bayless and Kris Humphries. All four are questionable for Monday.
The Celtics ended a 13-game road losing streak against the Cavs and are 9-31 as the visitor this season. They will close the season at home Wednesday versus the Washington Wizards.
Philadelphia is 1-6 since ending a 26-game losing streak and has lost its last four games, including Saturday's 111-105 setback at Charlotte.
Michael Carter-Williams posted 23 points with eight assists and seven rebounds, while Thaddeus Young finished with 16 points and Henry Sims added 15 points and six rebounds in the setback.
"I thought that the energy in the first half was great," said Sixers coach Brett Brown. "We blinked a little in the third period and found a way to get back in it in the fourth after being down by the (16-point) margin."
The Sixers have a 9-31 record at home and will close a disappointing season Wednesday at the Miami Heat.
Philadelphia is 2-1 against Boston this season, but the Celtics have won two straight and nine of the past 13 trips to south Philly.
