Hawks face Bucks before postseason play

Apr 16, 2014 - 2:04 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Atlanta Hawks are headed to the playoffs, but before the postseason begins, they must visit the Bradley Center to take on the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Hawks are going to the playoffs for the seventh consecutive season, the second-longest active streak in the NBA behind only the revered San Antonio Spurs.

Atlanta is locked into the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference and will face the Indiana Pacers.

The Hawks got into the postseason by virtue of a 13-point home victory over the Miami Heat on Saturday. That gave them a three-game winning streak, but that run crashed to a halt Monday night thanks to a buzzer-beater loss at home to the Charlotte Bobcats.

Chris Douglas-Roberts' floater at the horn lifted the Charlotte Bobcats to a 95-93 win.

Paul Millsap, Kyle Korver and DeMarre Carroll all sat out for the Hawks to rest for the upcoming playoffs.

Mike Scott paced Atlanta with 20 points, while Lou Williams and Shelvin Mack each netted 13 in the setback.

"Every time you go out there and compete you always feel like you can win," said Mack. "Especially the way we were playing early on. But we had some bad moments down the stretch that kind of led to them being able to get on a run and get going."

Jeff Teague, the reigning Eastern Conference Player of the Week, tallied 11 points with five assists for the Hawks.

The Bucks will thankfully wrap up this horrendous regular season. They will finish with the worst record in the league and have the most ping-pong balls for the NBA Draft Lottery on May 20.

Milwaukee has lost two in a row, both on the road. On Monday, the Bucks fell to the Toronto Raptors, 110-100, as the Raptors even sat out leading scorer DeMar DeRozan despite being in a battle for the third seed in the Eastern Conference.

Ramon Sessions ended with 21 points and five assists for the Bucks, who have lost 14 in a row on the road. Jeff Adrien and Brandon Knight added 19 and 18 points, respectively, with Adrien also pulling down nine rebounds.

"We fell behind, we tried to fight back," Milwaukee coach Larry Drew said. "We got it under 10, but we just couldn't get over the hump."

The Hawks won both of this season's meetings and six in a row overall against the Bucks. Atlanta has won three straight and four of its last five in Milwaukee.
