Grizz hope to continue dominance over Detroit

Nov 15, 2014 - 3:29 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - Losing at home hasn't been an option lately for the Memphis Grizzlies, as they continue a four-game stay at FedEx Forum Saturday versus the Detroit Pistons.

The Grizzlies are 4-0 at home and unbeaten in the last 18 regular-season games at FedEx Forum. The last regular-season loss at home was Feb. 5, 2014 versus Dallas.

Memphis improved to 8-1 on the season and had that same mark after nine games in 2012-13. The Grizzlies, whose only loss came at Milwaukee last Saturday, posted a close 111-110 win over the Sacramento Kings on Thursday thanks to a huge comeback in the fourth quarter.

Vince Carter tossed an inbounds pass to Courtney Lee with just three-tenths of a second remaining, and Lee made a move inside before catching the ball and depositing a reverse layup for the win. Kings players were stunned and a postgame video review confirmed that Lee got the shot off in time.

"I figured I'd just try to keep it in the air and he was just going to have to make a play on the other side," said Carter. "I just threw it up, tried to avoid the tip. It worked out for us."

Mike Conley led the Grizzlies with 22 points and handed out 11 assists, while Marc Gasol ended with 20 points and seven rebounds. Zach Randolph chipped in 17 points and eight boards and the hero Lee scored 16 off the bench.

Memphis shot 50.6 percent and is 50-5 since the start of 2011-12 when shooting at least 50 percent. The 110 points allowed were a season high, but the Grizzlies are still first in opponents' scoring at 91.7 ppg.

The Grizzlies will conclude the homestand Monday versus Houston.

Detroit ended a three-game skid with its first road victory of the season, a 96-89 overtime win Friday night against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Brandon Jennings scored eight of his game-high 29 points in overtime to send the Pistons to victory.

Josh Smith ended with 18 points and Greg Monroe tallied 14 points with nine rebounds for the Pistons, who snapped a 10-game skid to the Thunder. It was their first victory against Oklahoma City since Dec. 26, 2008.

"It's one game, we got 73 more to go," said Jennings. "But you know this is a good feeling to get a win on this road trip."

The Pistons fell at Chicago and Washington to kick off this trek. The trip ends Saturday in Memphis, a place Detroit has enjoyed very little success in recent history.

The Grizzlies have won nine straight over the Pistons dating back to Oct. 28, 2009. Memphis has won four in a row as the host during that stretch.
