Wiz welcome Magic to DC

Nov 15, 2014 - 3:53 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - John Wall was able to get to the foul line the last time out and helped the Washington Wizards to a 6-2 start on the season.

Wall and the Wizards will resume a four-game homestand Saturday versus the Orlando Magic at the Verizon Center. Wall posted 27 points and made 13-of-16 shots from the stripe in Wednesday's 107-103 win over the Detroit Pistons.

Rasual Butler was a boost off the bench with 18 points, Marcin Gortat ended with 14 to go along with 13 rebounds and Paul Pierce scored 13 for Washington, which made 48.2 percent from the floor and had 11 turnovers.

"I just had the opportunity to get some good looks tonight," said Butler, a veteran out of La Salle University. "They went down for me. We did a good job executing our plays, and I was the recipient of some good looks that coach Wittman's offense creates for his players."

Kris Humphries rounded out the double-digit scorers with 12 points.

The Wizards should get guard Bradley Beal back in a few weeks. He has been sidelined because of wrist surgery.

Washington, which is 3-0 at home, last started 6-2 back in 1975-76, when the franchise was known as the Bullets. The Bullets were 11-2 in 1974-75.

Orlando has won two in a row and all four victories on the season have come in the last six encounters.

The Magic played impressively in a brief return home Friday night with a 101-85 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks.

Tobias Harris had 26 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Magic, who are 2-2 in their last four on the road.

Nik Vucevic posted 18 points and nine rebounds and Evan Fournier netted 15 points for the Magic, who already trail the Wizards by three games in the Southeast Division.

Victor Oladipo made his season debut after missing the first nine games, and tallied 13 points. Oladipo has had a pair of injuries, first spraining his MCL during a Magic team scrimmage last month and then suffering a facial fracture during practice a few days prior to the start of the season.

"I was just going out there and being patient," said Oladipo. "Going out there and having fun. I wanted to win first and foremost. As far as how I felt, I don't care, I just want to win."

The Magic dropped a 105-98 decision at home to the Wizards on Oct. 30, as Wall led the charge with 30 points and 12 assists. Nik Vucevic provided 23 points and 12 rebounds for Orlando, which has lost five in a row in this series.

Washington is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings with Orlando and unbeaten in the previous five encounters in DC.
