Knicks try to end slide in matinee vs. Nuggets

The Knicks haven't won since a 96-93 victory two weeks ago at home over the Charlotte Hornets. Since, New York has sank in the Atlantic Division and is 0-3 during this homestand. Sunday's tilt will end the MSG stretch as the Knicks hit the road for two straight in Milwaukee and Minnesota.
Offense, specifically, the triangle offense, has been New York's problem. The Knicks rank 26th in the league in scoring, but posted 100 points for the first time Friday night.
It didn't help them win as the Knicks fell at home to the Utah Jazz, 102-100.
Trey Burke hit a turnaround jumper at the buzzer for the game-winning points.
The Knicks were dealt a heartbreaking loss despite 46 points from Carmelo Anthony, the last three coming on a contested step-back shot with 2.3 seconds remaining that forged a 100-100 tie.
"I was just trying, man. I don't like to lose," Anthony said. "Trying to will our way to a win."
Pablo Prigioni was the only other New York player to score in double figures other than Anthony, who went 16-of-26 from the field and 13-of-16 from the foul line in his best performance of the young season. Prigioni finished with 13 points.
Iman Shumpert is listed as doubtful for Sunday with a hip injury.
Anthony's former team, the Nuggets, put the brakes on a seven-game slide Friday night with a 108-87 victory over the Indiana Pacers. That win started a short eastern road trip, which ends Monday night in Cleveland against LeBron James and the Cavaliers.
The Nuggets won their season opener against Detroit two weeks ago and proceeded to lose six in a row by an average of 13.3 points, including an embarrassing home loss to Portland on Wednesday when they surrendered 84 points in the first half alone.
The table was turned on Friday, as Denver committed just eight turnovers, shot 49.4 percent from the floor and led by as many as 33.
Arron Afflalo led a balanced scoring attack with 17 points. Seven Nuggets scored in double figures. Ty Lawson totaled 11 points and 10 assists while Wilson Chandler and Gary Harris each chipped in with 13 points.
"We had the intensity," said Nuggets coach Brian Shaw. "Everybody contributed who played the game tonight in one capacity or another."
Rookie Gary Harris made his season debut with 13 points in 18:29 of action.
The two teams have split the last eight meetings and the Nuggets are 1-4 in their last five at MSG.
