Suns go for home-and-home sweep of Nuggets

Nov 28, 2014 - 4:04 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Phoenix Suns will go for the home-and-home sweep of the Denver Nuggets Friday night as the two sides clash again, this time at the Pepsi Center.

The Suns knocked off the Nuggets, 120-112, Wednesday at US Airways Center. It was the fifth win in the last six games for the Suns and halted a five-game winning streak for the Nuggets.

Gerald Green scored 24 points off the bench to lead the Suns.

Eric Bledsoe deposited 21 points with 10 assists, Goran Dragic scored 20 and Markieff Morris totaled 15 points with 10 rebounds and seven assists for the Suns.

Marcus Morris had 14 points while Alex Len and PJ Tucker chipped in 10 points apiece off the bench for the Suns.

Wilson Chandler led the Nuggets with 19 points, while Timofey Mozgov and Arron Afflalo each contributed 18 points, with Mozgov pulling down 13 rebounds in the setback.

Ty Lawson scored 17 points and handed out 12 assists, while Alonzo Gee netted 11 off the bench.

"The pace was fine for us, scoring over 100 points," said Afflalo. "But you can't turn around and give the same amount up."

With the game knotted up at 64-64 at halftime, Phoenix opened the third on a 14-4 run. Dragic scored the first five points of the run, then capped it with a layup with 7:06 left in the quarter.

"There was a stretch there in the third quarter where we played pretty good defense, then we made some shots," Suns coach Jeff Hornacek said.

The Suns shot lights out against the Nuggets, going for 51.1 percent from the field, 52 percent from 3-point range and 81 percent from the free-throw line. Denver didn't come close to those numbers.

Nuggets' forward Danilo Gallinari left the game with left knee soreness and didn't return after a little over eight minutes of action. It's the same knee that has a surgically-repaired ACL, which cost him almost two years of action.

The Suns return home for two, then hit the road for three.

Denver plays four of its next five away from home.

The Suns have now five in a row against the Nuggets, dating back to last season. Phoenix may have won two straight in the Mile High City, but it is 3-10 in its last 13 there.
