Hawks swoop down in Brooklyn to face Nets

Dec 5, 2014 - 2:43 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - Don't look now, but the Atlanta Hawks have won four in a row and will put that streak on the line Friday night at the Barclays Center against the Brooklyn Nets.

The Hawks have won six of their last seven and two in a row on the road. Those victories outside of Atlanta came against Southeast rivals, the Washington Wizards and Miami Heat.

Atlanta finds itself just one game behind those Wizards for divisional supremacy.

The Hawks' most recent victory came in South Beach Wednesday, 112-102. It was the sixth straight game Atlanta cruised past the 100-point plateau.

Jeff Teague had 27 points, six assists and three steals in the Hawks' win over the four-time reigning Eastern Conference champions.

Kyle Korver added 18 points, six rebounds and two steals for the Hawks. Dennis Schroder and Paul Millsap tallied 16 and 14 points, respectively. Schroder led a bench unit that chipped in 41 points and outscored its Miami counterparts by 22.

"A good win for us," Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer said. "I thought the bench came in and gave us some good stretches."

The Nets have played solid basketball of late, winning two in a row.

Brooklyn's stretch started with a five-point victory in the battle of New York over the Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday.

One night later, the Nets needed overtime, but knocked off the defending NBA champion San Antonio Spurs, 95-93.

The Spurs didn't record a field goal in the extra session until Danny Green hit a right corner 3-pointer with 1:38 left, pulling the defending champions within 95-93.

Manu Ginobili, though, missed a pair of potentially go-ahead triples in the final 1:06, including one in the final five seconds to seal the outcome.

Mirza Teletovic had 26 points and 15 rebounds for the Nets.

Brook Lopez posted 16 points and 15 boards, Deron Williams recorded 17 points and nine assists and Bojan Bogdanovic added 14 points and eight rebounds for the Nets, who have won four of their last six games on the heels of a five- game losing streak.

"We're competing for each other and everybody made great plays, passes and shots," Nets coach Lionel Hollins said.

The Nets took of three from the Hawks last season, but Atlanta is 4-2 in its last six as the visitor in this series.
