Heat finish off road trip in Salt Lake City

Dec 12, 2014 - 3:22 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Miami Heat will close out their five-game road trip Friday against the Utah Jazz at EnergySolutions Arena.

The Heat are 1-3 on the sojourn and lost for the fifth time in six tries with Wednesday's 102-82 setback against the Denver Nuggets.

Chris Bosh scored 14 points, Luol Deng added 12 and Dwyane Wade ended with 10 points on 4-of-15 shooting for the Heat, who shot 36.6 percent and were outrebounded by a 50-42 difference.

Denver had a 31-14 scoring advantage in the third quarter and carried a 79-62 lead into the final stanza.

"Offensively, we didn't get the ball where it needed to go," Bosh said. "We didn't work the offense much."

Bosh and the Heat were coming off a hard-fought win in Phoenix and fell to 6-6 on the road this season.

The Heat will be back in south Florida to host Chicago on Sunday.

Utah put the brakes on a nine-game slide with Tuesday's improbable 100-96 victory over the defending champion San Antonio Spurs.

Derrick Favors and Gordon Hayward scored 21 and 20 points, respectively, while Enes Kanter provided 12 points and 15 rebounds for the Jazz, who shot 50 percent from the field and scored 17 points off 13 San Antonio turnovers.

"We have been due for some guys to hit some shots. As long as we share the ball that's the most important thing, live with the result to be honest with you," Jazz coach Quin Snyder said.

The Jazz avoided their first 10-game losing streak since an 18-game slide from Feb. 24-March 29, 1982.

Utah's previous victory was against Oklahoma City on Nov. 18.

After hosting the Heat, the Jazz will depart Salt Lake City for six games against Washington, New Orleans, Miami, Orlando, Charlotte and Memphis.

The Jazz and Heat split two meetings last season. Miami has lost three in a row at Salt Lake City. Alec Burks averaged 21.5 points, 4.5 assists and 3.0 steals against Miami in 2013-14.

Utah is 4-8 as the host this season.
