Grizzlies try to keep 76ers winless at home
Dec 13, 2014 - 2:57 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Memphis Grizzlies will shoot for their 19th win of the season Saturday on the road against the Philadelphia 76ers.The Grizzlies have won three in a row and eight of their last 10 games, including Friday's 113-107 double-overtime triumph versus the Charlotte Hornets. Zach Randolph posted 20 points and 11 rebounds, Marc Gasol and Mike Conley scored 19 points apiece and Courtney Lee netted 14 points.
Memphis shot 45.9 percent and scored 11 of the 16 points in the second overtime.
"We came out very sluggish...but we deserved to win the way we played in the second half," Grizzlies head coach David Joerger said.
Joerger's squad is 7-3 outside of FedExForum this season and second in opponents' scoring at 94.6 ppg. San Antonio is first at 94.3 ppg.
Philadelphia has lost two in a row and three of four games to fall to an NBA- worst 2-20 on the season.
The misery continued for the 76ers in Friday's 88-70 setback at Brooklyn, as Robert Covington scored 20 points and both Michael Carter-Williams and Henry Sims added 14 points.
Covington has scored 20 or more points three times in the last four games, averaging 18.8 ppg in that time.
Tony Wroten scored 12 points for the Sixers, who made 31.9 percent from the field and were outrebounded, 47-37. Wroten played for the first time since Nov. 26 versus Brooklyn because of a knee issue and leads the team with 17.9 points per game.
The Nets scored 25 points off 24 Philly turnovers and recorded 16 steals.
The Sixers, who sit last in scoring at 90.4 ppg, will play their next three games at home versus Memphis, Boston and Charlotte, and are 0-11 at the Wells Fargo Center. Philadelphia was 10-31 at home last season.
Philadelphia and Memphis will play the first of two matchups this season and are slated to tangle again Jan. 24 on Beale Street. The Grizzlies took both meetings last season and are unbeaten in the past four trips to south Philly.
