Record run at risk for Warriors in Memphis

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Golden State Warriors needed overtime to extend their franchise winning streak to 16 games last time out and the impressive run will be at risk Tuesday against the Memphis Grizzlies at FedExForum.

Golden State will close out a three-game road trip in Memphis and sweated out a 128-122 overtime triumph against the New Orleans Pelicans Sunday. Stephen Curry scored eight of his 34 points in overtime and buried 6-of-10 3-pointers.

Curry is averaging 24.9 points per game over the last 11 and is fifth in the NBA with 23.7 ppg.

Klay Thompson scored 29 points, Andre Iguodala added a season-best 20 off the bench and Draymond Green registered 11 points and 13 rebounds in a career-high 48 minutes. The Warriors, who used an 11-4 run at the end of regulation to force overtime, shot 51.2 percent from the floor.

"We got outplayed generally speaking ... We turned it over and didn't guard," Warriors coach Steve Kerr said. "Thankfully we got really talented players and some incredibly competitive desire to win."

New Orleans scored 30-plus points in both the first and third quarters, and scored 23 points off 20 Golden State turnovers.

Thompson has scored 20 or more points in seven straight games and is averaging 23.3 ppg in that span for Golden State, which is first in field goal percentage at 48.2 and second in scoring with 107.6 ppg.

The Warriors have the best record in the NBA at 21-2 and are unbeaten in the last 10 road games, a franchise record. They have a league-best 13-1 mark as the visitor and are 15-0 when holding teams under 100 points.

After visiting the Grizzlies, Golden State will return home for two games versus Oklahoma City and Sacramento. Warriors forward Harrison Barnes (dental) is questionable Tuesday and Andre Bogut (knee) is still sidelined. Bogut needs two points for 6,000 in his career.

Memphis has won four in a row and nine of its last 11 games, and has a 19-4 mark this season. The Grizzlies are 11-1 at home and have scored 100 or more points in each of the past five games.

In a 120-115 overtime victory in south Philadelphia on Saturday, Mike Conley poured in 36 points on 13-of-22 shooting and Zach Randolph added 24 points and 11 rebounds. Courtney Lee and Marc Gasol scored 19 and 18 points, respectively, for Memphis, which made 48.4 percent from the floor and scored 11 of the 17 points in overtime.

"I'm going to do whatever it takes to will my team, get my guys going as well and give ourselves a chance to win," Conley said.

The Grizzlies scored 41 points in the fourth quarter.

Memphis has won three in a row at home and had a 22-game regular-season home winning streak cut short on Dec. 5 versus San Antonio. It is fourth in opponents' scoring this season at 95.5 ppg and will visit the Spurs Wednesday.

The Grizzlies and Warriors will play the first of three meetings this season and split four matchups in 2013-14. Memphis is 11-2 in the last 13 games in this series and has won nine of the last 10 meetings at FedExForum.
