Kelly Olynyk added 15 points off the bench for the Celtics, who put the brakes on a four-game losing streak. Jae Crowder contributed 12 points and Evan Turner tallied 10 points and 11 assists.
"That was the best game physically we've played, I thought, as a team," Boston coach Brad Stevens said.
Darren Collison and Carl Landry each had 14 points for the Kings, who shot just 36.8 percent from the field as they lost for the fourth time in their last five games. Ben McLemore ended with 12 points and Ray McCallum and DeMarcus Cousins scored 11 points apiece.
Prior to the game, Sacramento coach Tyrone Corbin said his interim tag has been lifted for the rest of the season. He replaced fired coach Michael Malone on Dec. 15.
"Everything was just off tonight," Corbin said. "It's a disappointing effort, disappointing loss and we have to get better."
The Celtics jumped out to a 9-0 lead and never looked back. Sacramento kept it close early and trailed 23-19 after one quarter.
The score was tied 27-27 when the Celtics went on a 14-6 run. Sullinger scored the final four points during the surge to make it 41-33 with 3:12 left in the first half.
Boston led 49-39 at the break and pulled away early in the third quarter. After McLemore made a 3-pointer, the Celtics scored eight straight points to build a 57-42 margin.
Ahead 69-61 with 1:19 remaining, Boston tallied the final eight points of the third. Olynyk and Marcus Smart made 3-pointers to give the home team a 77-61 lead.
The Celtics led by as many as 28 in the fourth.
