Timberwolves take 13-game skid to Milwaukee

Jan 9, 2015 - 3:26 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Minnesota Timberwolves will try to snap a 13-game losing streak Friday night when they visit the Bradley Center to square off against the Milwaukee Bucks.

The T-wolves haven't won since Dec. 10 at home against the Portland Trail Blazers. They haven't tasted success on the road since Nov. 28 when they bested the Los Angeles Lakers. That losing streak as the visitor spans nine games.

On Wednesday, Minnesota had its best chance at a win in sometime, but came up a little short in a 113-111 home loss to the Phoenix Suns.

The Timberwolves led by seven after three quarters, but were out-scored, 42-33, over the final 12 minutes. Phoenix went 15-for-24 from the floor in the fourth and the 42 points equaled the second-highest total Minnesota has ever allowed in the fourth quarter.

The Timberwolves had a chance to win the game at the buzzer with an Andrew Wiggins 3-pointer, but his shot was off.

Wiggins led Minnesota with 25 points, his fifth straight game with 20-or-more points. Mo Williams shot 4-of-7 from beyond the arc and finished with 23 points, while Anthony Bennett chipped in 14 points and 10 boards off the bench.

"I thought we were much better at time defensively," Minnesota head coach Flip Saunders said, "Overall, we had some growth from some of our guys."

The Bucks have taken four of their last six, but own a four-game home losing streak. Milwaukee's last win at the Bradley Center came against the Los Angeles Clippers on Dec. 13.

Last time out, the Bucks blew out the Philadelphia 76ers, 97-77, in south Philly.

Khris Middleton and Brandon Knight each scored 18 points. Middleton also had five steals for the Bucks, who have won four straight against Philadelphia.

O.J. Mayo and Jerryd Bayless added 15 and 12 points, respectively, while Zaza Pachulia contributed 11 points and 12 rebounds.

"We played hard," Knight said. "We stuck to our principles. We know they like to play a really fast-paced game. They still did that tonight but we wanted to make sure we played at our place and played the right way."

The Bucks shot 53.9 percent from the field and 47.1 from long range. They did commit a whopping 26 turnovers, but held the Sixers to 2-for-25 from beyond the 3-point arc.

According to reports, the Bucks are going to add former All-Star Kenyon Martin. The 37-year-old will sign a 10-day contract and, according to those same reports, the team will waive Nate Wolters to make room for Martin.

The Bucks beat the T-wolves by 17 in Minnesota on Nov. 26 to snap a four-game series losing streak. The Timberwolves have won two straight in Brew City.
