Curry, Warriors down Jazz

Jan 14, 2015 - 5:23 AM Salt Lake City, UT (SportsNetwork.com) - Stephen Curry had 15 of his 27 points in the third quarter as the Golden State Warriors defeated the Utah Jazz 116- 105 on Tuesday night.

Curry also had 11 assists, Draymond Green posted 15 points and Klay Thompson added 12 for the Warriors, who have won seven straight games.

"He's found the perfect balance between attacking and pulling it out," Warriors coach Steve Kerr said of Curry.

Derrick Favors tallied 22 points and 11 rebounds, Rudy Gobert supplied 16 points and 11 boards and Enes Kanter provided 13 points and 10 rebounds for Utah, which has dropped three consecutive contests and four of its last five.

The Warriors held a 56-55 edge early in the third quarter before they began to pull away with a 17-6 run. Curry knocked down two of their four 3-pointers during the surge, which was capped on a Green straightaway triple for a 73-61 Golden State advantage.

A 12-2 burst later in the frame increased Golden State's lead further. The Warriors hit seven of their first nine shots from beyond the arc in the stanza and a Thompson jumper finished off the flurry, which made the score 88-72.

Marreese Speights' trey at the third quarter horn gave the Warriors a 97-80 cushion going into the fourth. Golden State outscored Utah 44-27 in the quarter.

"They raised their level," Utah coach Quin Snyder said of the Warriors' third stanza. "They hit some shots, they were tough shots, they were contested."

The Warriors cruised to the easy triumph in the final frame, leading by as many as 20.

Earlier, the Jazz held a 26-25 edge following a quarter of play and the game was tied 53-53 at halftime.
