Blazers aim to stop skid vs. Kings

Jan 19, 2015 - 3:19 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Portland Trail Blazers are in the midst of a three- game losing streak and will try to break out of it Monday night when the Sacramento Kings pay a visit to the Moda Center.

The Blazers lost three in a row for the first time this season. The rut started with a home setback to the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday, then dropped both games of a brutal weekend road trip. Portland fell to the San Antonio Spurs and Memphis Grizzlies and in all three games of this slide, the Blazers failed to score 100 points and allowed over 100.

On Saturday, the Trail Blazers lost to the Grizzlies, 102-98.

LaMarcus Aldridge finished with 32 points and nine rebounds in the loss. Wesley Matthews and Damian Lillard went for 25 and 23 points, respectively. Chris Kaman pulled down 11 rebounds.

The Grizzlies led by as many as 20, but Portland had chances. The Blazers got within two late in the game, but the Grizzlies made free throws and Beno Udrih converted a pair of jumpers.

"We put ourselves in a position to win a game on the road against a good team and just fell a little short in the second half," Blazers coach Terry Stotts said.

Memphis made 51 percent of its shots, limiting the Blazers to 39 percent shooting. The Grizzlies' bench outscored Portland's reserves 31-11.

The Kings have lost three straight, all at home, as they went 2-4 on a six- game homestand.

On Saturday, the Kings fell to the Clippers, 117-108.

Jason Thompson posted 23 points and 22 boards, while Rudy Gay supplied 22 points off the bench for Sacramento, which has dropped four of its last five contests.

"It was good to get into a rhythm," Thompson said of his rebounding.

Darren Collison added 17 points, followed by 14 from Ben McLemore and 13 out of Derrick Williams.

DeMarcus Cousins missed the loss to the Clippers with an ankle injury and is listed as questionable for Monday's game.

The Kings defeated the Blazers by nine points in Sacramento on Halloween. The Blazers have won three straight at home against the Kings and are 9-2 in their last 11 as the host in this series.
