The Lakers are 0-2 on the trek with back-to-back losses in Utah and Phoenix, and have dropped four in a row as the guest.
In Monday's 115-100 loss to the Suns, Nick Young scored 24 points off the bench and both Wesley Johnson and Jordan Hill posted 12 points. The Lakers shot 45.3 percent for the game and were without Kobe Bryant (rest).
Los Angeles turned the ball over 23 times for 27 Phoenix points.
"We turned the ball over a lot tonight," said Young. "That's one of the main reasons."
The Lakers are 6-15 on the road and will close the trip Friday against San Antonio.
New Orleans is back home after going 2-3 on a recent trip and dropped a 99-92 decision to the lowly New York Knicks on Monday. The Knicks finally put to rest a franchise-record 16-game losing streak.
Tyreke Evans and Eric Gordon scored 23 and 20 points, respectively, while Omer Asik finished with 11 points and 17 rebounds.
"They had a great game, they played well. They controlled the tempo," Hornets forward Ryan Anderson said of the Knicks.
The Pelicans held a 50-34 rebounding and 46-32 points in the paint advantage.
Pelicans star forward Anthony Davis missed his third straight game with a toe injury and is probable Wednesday. Guard Jrue Holiday (ankle) has missed the last four games and is questionable versus the Lakers.
New Orleans will visit Minnesota next on Friday and has defeated the Lakers twice this season. The two teams will meet again April 1 in LA.
The Hornets have won three straight in this series.
