Grizzlies put 6-game win streak on the line in Phoenix

Feb 2, 2015 - 3:45 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Memphis Grizzlies will take their six-game winning streak on the road Monday night when they begin a three-game road trip against the Phoenix Suns.

Memphis will also visit the Utah Jazz and Minnesota Timberwolves on this excursion.

The Grizzlies haven't lost since Jan. 19 at home against the Dallas Mavericks. They've won 10 of their last 11 and three straight on the road, where the Grizzlies are 14-7 this season.

Memphis' winning streak reached six on Saturday with an impressive 85-74 home triumph over the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Grizzlies were led by their frontcourt duo of Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol. Randolph paced the game with 21 points and 18 rebounds, and Gasol added 15 points, 12 boards and five assists.

In his return from a two-game absence, Mike Conley scored 10 points for Memphis.

"It's a standard that's being set," Conley said. "Hopefully, we will continue to play with that effort and energy."

The Grizzlies defense did the job against the Thunder's stars, holding Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook to a combined 10-for-26 shooting from the field and 29 points.

After a 6-2 homestand, the Suns were given a harsh dose of road reality on Saturday with a 106-87 loss to the Golden State Warriors.

Markieff Morris posted his second straight double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds for Phoenix, which hadn't been away from home since an overtime loss to Memphis on Jan. 11.

Eric Bledsoe finished with 16 points, followed by 13 from Isaiah Thomas and 10 from Goran Dragic. The Suns shot 36.3 percent from the field and committed 22 turnovers.

The Warriors took a one-point lead into the half, then took over. They won the third quarter, 26-19, and the fourth, 28-17.

"We ran out of the gas toward the end," said Morris. "We let them off the hook."

The Suns have dropped three of five overall and lost three straight road games.

The Grizzlies have owned this matchup in recent history. They've won both meetings this season, six in a row and four straight as the visitor.
