Sullinger, Celtics down 76ers

Feb 7, 2015 - 7:18 AM Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - Jared Sullinger had 22 points, eight rebounds and seven assists as the Boston Celtics defeated the Philadelphia 76ers 107-96 on Friday night.

Avery Bradley netted 18 points and Tyler Zeller and Marcus Thornton added 16 points apiece off the bench for the Celtics, who have won three straight games.

Luc Mbah a Moute tallied 18 points to lead Philadelphia, which has dropped three of its last four contests.

Boston led by as many as 26 in the first half, but the Sixers were within three after Hollis Thompson nailed a 3-pointer to make it 83-80 with 7:37 remaining.

The Celtics, though, put in the next eight points and were never threatened again. Sullinger's 3-point play capped the surge and staked them to a 91-80 advantage midway through the fourth.

Earlier, the Celtics raced out to a 25-9 lead. Bradley poured in the first seven points of the game, including a pair of jumpers and a 3-pointer, as Boston held an early 9-0 advantage.

"We had no idea what we were doing in the first period," Philadelphia head coach Brett Brown said. "We started so poorly that it spun off in a number of areas."

Boston was up 29-15 following a quarter of play and a Thompson triple in the waning seconds of the first half got Philadelphia within 60-42 heading into the break.

A Henry Sims layup and K.J. McDaniel's 3 at the third-quarter horn clawed the Sixers within 75-69.

"I was really happy with how we responded (to the Sixers' comeback)," Celtics head coach Brad Stevens said. "I thought we responded really well."
