Warriors make quick turnaround against Knicks

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Golden State Warriors don't have much time to dwell on their recent loss and will visit the New York Knicks Saturday at Madison Square Garden.

The Warriors dropped a 124-116 decision to the red-hot Atlanta Hawks Friday night at Philips Arena in the opener of a four-game road trip. The Hawks scored 30 or more points in each of the last three quarters and were led by Jeff Teague's 23 points.

Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry scored 29 and 26 points, respectively, and Draymond Green ended with 12 and 20 rebounds for Golden State.

"If you control those guys, it's a completely different ballgame," said Green of Atlanta's second unit. "We didn't do that tonight. You've got to give those guys a lot of credit."

Golden State, which is first in the NBA with 111.5 ppg and field goal percentage (48.3), is 16-7 on the road and will also visit Philadelphia and Minnesota on this trip.

The Knicks have lost two in a row after winning five of their previous seven games, and suffered a 92-88 loss against Brooklyn Friday night.

Nets guard Jarrett Jack hit a big 3-pointer with 13.8 seconds left and scored 20 points. Carmelo Anthony paced the Knicks with 21 points and Jose Calderon added 15 for New York, which grabbed a 75-73 lead on Tim Hardaway Jr.'s 3- pointer with 9:39 remaining. The Knicks were then held scoreless for nearly five minutes as Brooklyn moved in front to stay with a pivotal 8-0 run.

New York used a 7-2 run and pulled within 83-82 on a Langston Galloway triple with 3:22 remaining.

"We were fighting," said New York forward Lance Thomas. "(The Nets) were relentless in their effort. The end result wasn't what we wanted, but we fought."

After hosting the Warriors, the Knicks will begin a tour through Florida against Miami and Orlando. New York is 7-18 at MSG.

The Knicks and Warriors will meet again March 14 and split two games last season. New York hasn't won a season series versus the Warriors since the 2000-01 season (2-0).

Golden State has won eight of the last 12 games at Madison Square Garden dating back to 2001.
