Pistons top Butler, Bulls

Feb 21, 2015 - 4:38 AM Auburn Hills, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - Andre Drummond posted 18 points and 20 rebounds and all five Pistons starters reached double figures in Detroit's 100-91 win over the Chicago Bulls on Friday.

Greg Monroe scored 20 points with six boards and Caron Butler netted 20 with four steals for Detroit, which was active during Thursday's trade deadline.

Detroit acquired guard Reggie Jackson and former Piston forward Tayshaun Prince in separate deals. Guards D.J. Augustin and Kyle Singler were shipped to Oklahoma City, while forwards Jonas Jerebko and Luigi Datome were traded to the Celtics.

Rookie Spencer Dinwiddie capitalized on his first career start, tallying 12 points and a game-high nine assists to help Detroit open the second half of the season with a win.

"I thought he did about as good a job as he could do," praised Detroit coach Stan Van Gundy. "He was poised the whole time, didn't turn it over at all in the second half. Couldn't ask for much more."

Jimmy Butler led Chicago with 30 points in the setback.

"They played at a high intensity level," said Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau. "You have to play for 48 minutes in this league. If you let your guard down, you're going to get beat."

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope hit a deep 3 with 30 seconds left in the first half to pull the Pistons within 53-45. They carried that momentum into the third, dominating the period from start to finish.

Consecutive layups by Monroe tied the game with 7:26 left in the third. Later, a 12-1 run, which Monroe capped with another layup, pushed Detroit's lead to 11.

The Bulls never got closer than six down the stretch.

The Bulls had won four straight games ... Chicago guard Kirk Hinrich (toe) returned from a three-game absence ad scored seven points off the bench ... Bulls center Joakim Noah had 14 rebounds.
