OKC shoots for 6th straight win vs. Nuggets

Feb 22, 2015 - 3:40 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Oklahoma City Thunder shoot for their sixth straight win Sunday against the Denver Nuggets.

The Thunder made it five in a row with Saturday's 110-103 triumph over the Charlotte Hornets, as All-Star Game MVP Russell Westbrook scored 33 points and handed out 10 assists. Serge Ibaka added 16 points and 12 rebounds, while newcomer Enes Kanter added 10 points and 13 boards.

D.J. Augustin is also new to the Thunder and had 12 points.

Oklahoma City outrebounded Charlotte, 59-41, and has won seven of the past eight games.

"We feel confident with what we have as a unit, especially with the great pieces we have," Westbrook said. "Once we get everybody healthy and rolling we are going to be tough to beat. For now we have to come in every night and take care of business."

The Thunder are 17-8 at home and will host Indiana Tuesday.

Thunder star forward Kevin Durant was out due to a sore right foot and is questionable Sunday.

Denver will wrap up a three-game road trip (1-1) Sunday and dropped an 89-81 decision at Milwaukee on Friday night.

Wilson Chandler scored 19 points and Jusuf Nurkic compiled 11 points, 15 rebounds and three blocks for the Nuggets, who lost for the 14th time in the last 16 tries and are 8-20 on the road.

"The energy was better in the first half than the second half," said Nuggets coach Brian Shaw. "They got 28 points in the third quarter, which is too many."

The Nuggets will begin a five-game homestand Monday versus Brooklyn, Phoenix, Utah, New Orleans and Milwaukee.

OKC is 2-1 against Denver this season and has won four of the past six meetings between the Northwest rivals.
