Magic resume homestand with Sixers in town

Feb 22, 2015 - 3:42 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Orlando Magic will resume a four-game homestand Sunday against the Philadelphia 76ers at Amway Center.

The Magic have beaten New York and New Orleans on this stay and recorded a 95-84 triumph over the Pelicans Friday night.

Victor Oladipo scored 22 points, Nikola Vucevic posted 18 and 13 rebounds, and Evan Fournier added 16 points for the Magic, who shot 50 percent for the game and limited the visitors to 13 points in the fourth quarter.

"In the second half we got back to what we do," said Magic point guard Elfrid Payton, who contributed 11 assists on the night. "Guys were helping each other and we did a good job on the boards and the big guys are protecting the paint."

Orlando finished with a commanding 64-36 advantage in points in the paint and forward Tobias Harris missed a third straight game with a right knee injury. He is day-to-day.

Orlando won for just the third time in the last 15 games and is 8-18 at home this season. The Magic will close the homestand Wednesday versus Miami.

The 76ers will play their next three games on the road against Orlando, Miami and Milwaukee, and are 5-22 as the guest.

Philadelphia went 1-2 on a recent homestand and dropped a 106-95 decision to the Indiana Pacers on Friday. Luc Mbah a Moute had 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while Jerami Grant scored 16 points and Tim Frazier ended with 13 and seven assists.

"You felt at times naked on the sideline," Sixers coach Brett Brown said of the new point guards in the mix. "I see that we can move this group forward. It's up to me to move this group forward."

The Sixers' rebuild continued on Thursday at the trade deadline when general manager Sam Hinkie made a bold move, sending last season's rookie of the year, Michael Carter-Williams, to Milwaukee in a three-team deal that returned a first-round pick to Philadelphia.

The Sixers also dealt rookie K.J. McDaniels to Houston for Isaiah Canaan and a draft pick, while center JaVale McGee, a protected 2015 first-round pick and the rights for Chukwudiebere Maduabum were acquired in a deal with Denver.

Sixers guard Jason Richardson made his first appearance since Jan. 18, 2013. He scored seven points with seven rebounds.

Philadelphia and Orlando have split two games this season. The Magic are 19-5 in the past 24 meetings between the teams.
