Gasol, Grizzlies edge Timberwolves

Mar 1, 2015 - 6:36 AM Minneapolis, MN (SportsNetwork.com) - Marc Gasol had 27 points and 11 rebounds as the Memphis Grizzlies defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 101-97 on Saturday night.

Mike Conley netted 17 points, Jeff Green added 13 and Zach Randolph pulled down 11 boards for the Grizzlies, who blew a 15-point third quarter lead, but Conley bailed them out with a go-ahead 3-pointer with 30.3 seconds left.

"It's been a tough, long week and we finished it 2-2," said Gasol. "Of course I wish it was 3-1 or even 4-0, but we finished it off strong and now it's time to move on to the next week."

Andrew Wiggins poured in 25 points for Minnesota, which has dropped three of its last four games.

"Every team we face, wherever we go they know that we're a better team than what our record shows, especially when we get all our guys back," said Wiggins.

After Kevin Martin tied the game with a left wing 3-pointer with 43.6 seconds remaining, Conley answered with his 3 at the other end.

Gasol had the ball at the left elbow and sent a skip pass to Conley, who nailed the right wing triple to make it 98-95 in favor of the Grizzlies.

Wiggins' putback dunk trimmed the gap to one, but Conley sunk two foul shots with 11.3 ticks left to make it 100-97.

Martin was off the mark on a left corner trey at the other end for Minnesota and Tony Allen split 1-of-2 from the foul line with 6.1 seconds to play to seal the outcome.

Earlier, the Wolves led 24-18 following a quarter of play before Memphis outscored them 30-22 in the second to take a 48-46 edge into the break.

Memphis began the third on a 19-6 run to create its 15-point bulge.

Gasol netted the first six points of the surge, which Green capped with a 3 for a 67-52 advantage midway through the frame.
