Kings roll over Knicks

Mar 4, 2015 - 5:39 AM New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Rudy Gay supplied 25 points with seven rebounds in the Sacramento Kings' 124-86 rout of the New York Knicks on Tuesday night.

DeMarcus Cousins returned to the Sacramento lineup after missing the previous two games with ankle and hip injuries to score 22 points and grab 10 rebounds in the win.

Ben McLemore had 20 points and Derrick Williams added 17 for the Kings, who snapped a two-game losing streak in the opener of a franchise record-tying eight-game road trip.

"Those guys play hard no matter what the scoreboard is," said Gay. "We came in with the mentality that we couldn't let them get into the game."

New York had a tough time on the offensive end throughout the night, shooting 36.6 percent for the game as no starter scored in double figures.

Alexey Shved led the Knicks with 15 points, while Jason Smith and Shake Larkin each tallied 13 points off the bench.

"It was definitely not the level of character and integrity that this group has been showing," said Knicks coach Derek Fisher.

Sacramento got out to an early lead and never looked back. Gay's three-point play gave the Kings a 15-7 lead, then they ended the first quarter on an 8-0 run to extend the margin to 35-19 after 12 minutes.

Williams scored the first seven points of a 17-0 run with that stretched Sacramento's lead to 56-27 with under six minutes to play in the first half.

The Kings brought a 26-point lead into the locker room and had no trouble closing out the lowly Knicks in the second half, leading by as many as 44 down the stretch in the lopsided victory.
