Harden's triple-double lifts Rockets over Pistons
Mar 7, 2015 - 4:52 AMVideo
Harden finished with 38 points, 12 assists and 12 rebounds for Houston, which snapped a two-game losing streak. Harden's three triple-doubles this season are the most in a single season by a Rocket since Clyde Drexler had three in 1996-97.
"It's all about having fun, especially when your back is against the wall," Harden said. "You just lost two in a row. Two tough games. You have to get a win. So, we went out there and had fun. We executed and played together."
Terrence Jones had 17 points, eight rebounds, three blocks and two steals for the Rockets. Corey Brewer contributed 15 points off the bench.
Greg Monroe ended with 19 points and eight boards for the Pistons, who have lost five in a row. Reggie Jackson recorded 17 points and seven assists, and Andre Drummond pulled down 21 rebounds.
"I don't think anybody was taking bad shots," Monroe said. "We had good looks, but the shots that people normally take, they didn't fall tonight. We didn't make shots, but there were things we could've done better defensively that would've probably given us a better chance."
The Rockets led by as many as six in the first quarter and took a 29-23 lead into the second.
Ahead 46-42, Houston created some distance with an 8-2 run that Jones capped with a three-point play. Monroe stopped the bleeding with two free throws to get Detroit within 54-46 at the half.
The Pistons kept it close in the third, but the Rockets ended the period with seven straight points to make it 80-69.
Houston put the game out of reach with an 11-0 run to start the fourth.
