Harden, Rockets down Nuggets

Mar 8, 2015 - 7:35 AM Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - James Harden had 24 points and seven assists as the Houston Rockets defeated the Denver Nuggets 114-100 on Saturday night.

Corey Brewer posted 24 points and six rebounds for the Rockets, who have won seven of their last nine games.

"He changed the game for us. We were kind of stagnant, we were down, he got a couple of steals. Brew did what Brew does and that's why we won the game," Harden said of Brewer.

Wilson Chandler provided 26 points, five boards and four steals, while Randy Foye added 20 points and seven assists for Denver, which has dropped eight of its last 10 contests.

"James Harden is James Harden. He made some big plays," Nuggets interim coach Melvin Hunt said.

The Rockets trailed 28-25 following a quarter of play after Harden split a pair of foul shots in the waning seconds of the frame and were down 34-33 early in the second before seizing control of the contest with a 14-2 run.

Trevor Ariza recorded a three-point play and knocked down a 3-pointer during the surge, which was capped on a Harden layup and two free throws on consecutive trips down the floor for a 47-36 Rockets advantage at the 4:41 mark of the frame.

Houston took a 55-48 margin into the locker room and an 88-73 spread into the fourth, where they built its advantage to as much as 21.

Saturday was the start of a four-game road trip for the Rockets, who snapped a three-game slide away from Houston ... Denver has dropped 11 of its last 12 games at the Pepsi Center ... Denver scored 31 points off 22 Rockets turnovers, but were outscored 48-36 in the paint.
