Love returns, Cavs blow past Nets

Mar 19, 2015 - 4:13 AM Cleveland, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Kevin Love returned to get 10 points and 11 rebounds and the Cleveland Cavaliers eased to a 117-92 win over the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday night.

Timofey Mozgov and J.R. Smith led the way with 17 points each and LeBron James scored 16 for the Cavs, who bounced back from a 106-92 loss in Miami on Monday to win for the fifth time in six games.

"The end of a road trip of always kind of tough," said James. "We just found out rhythm ... our second unit came in and gave us a boost."

They have won 14 in a row at home, last losing at Quicken Loans Arena on Jan. 7 to Houston.

Kyrie Irving added 12 points and 10 assists for the Central Division leaders and Love played 27 1/2 minutes after resting the last two games.

Deron Williams had 20 points to lead six Brooklyn scorers in double digits and Bojan Bogdanovic added 12 off the bench. The Nets had a two-game winning streak snapped and finished 2-2 on a four-game road trip.

Mozgov had 12 points in the third quarter and the Cavs, who led by 11 at halftime, pushed a seven-point lead to 18 with a 15-4 run. Mozgov scored eight consecutive points during the flurry, which gave the Cavs a 76-58 edge.

Their lead ballooned to 21 points going into the fourth quarter and was never lower than 19 after that.

Earlier, Thaddeus Young scored all nine of his points for Brooklyn in the first quarter and the Nets led by as much as 13 at 22-9 before Cleveland ended the period on a 14-4 run.

The Cavs then used a 16-2 burst in the second quarter to go up by 11. Smith gave them the lead for good on a 3-pointer that made it 31-28. He scored 11 of his 14 second-quarter points during the run and the Cavs led 59-47 at halftime.

Jarrett Jack had 11 points for Brooklyn and Brook Lopez, Markel Brown and Mason Plumlee each scored 10 ... Tristan Thompson and Iman Shumpert had 10 points each for Cleveland ... The Cavs are 3-0 against the Nets this season and have won the last four meetings. The teams will play again on March 27 in Brooklyn ... Cleveland hosts Indiana on Friday ... Brooklyn hosts Milwaukee on Friday.
