Warriors top Pelicans

Mar 21, 2015 - 6:05 AM Oakland, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Harrison Barnes scored 22 points and Stephen Curry had 16 as the Golden State Warriors topped the playoff-hopeful New Orleans Pelicans, 112-96, at Oracle Arena.

Marreese Speights added 13 points, Leandro Barbosa scored 12 and Andre Iguodala had 10 for the Warriors, who played without Klay Thompson (ankle). Golden State won despite Curry having an off-night, as he shot 4-of-17 from the field. He did have 11 assists.

"We have so much depth," Barnes said. "We can compensate for (injuries)."

The Western Conference-leading Warriors posted their fourth straight victory overall and 11th straight at home. It was their 55th win of the season, which ties for second-most in franchise history, just shy of the 59 set during the 1975-76 campaign.

Norris Cole had 16 points for New Orleans, which sits two games behind Oklahoma City for the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference.

"They had us on our heels tonight in transition. They drove the ball every single time. I thought off a back-to-back we got real tired," New Orleans coach Monty Williams said referring to the Pelicans losing 74-72 at Phoenix on Thursday.

New Orleans played without Anthony Davis, who was out with a left ankle injury. The Pelicans also missed Omer Asik, Ryan Anderson and Jrue Holiday.

Golden State was up four after the opening quarter, and the Pelicans helped the Warriors' cause in the second by shooting 5-of-18. Barnes had eight points in the period to assist the hosts to a 53-42 halftime advantage.

Alexis Ajinca's tip-in brought the visitors within 66-61 with 4:54 left in the third, but Golden State responded with a 17-3 spurt over the next four-plus minutes.

The Warriors weren't threatened the rest of the way.
