NBA-best Warriors resume homestand with Jazz

Mar 21, 2015 - 12:36 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The NBA-best Golden State Warriors aim to keep their scoring pace intact Saturday, when the Utah Jazz pay a visit to Oracle Arena.

The Warriors lead the NBA in points per game (109.8), shooting percentage (47.8) and opponents' scoring percentage (42.5).

Golden State has won the first four tests on this six-game homestand, which continued with Friday's 112-96 victory over the Anthony Davis-less New Orleans Pelicans. Davis is dealing with a balky ankle.

Harrison Barnes scored 22 points to lead the hosts and Stephen Curry registered 16 points and 11 assists. The Warriors shot 50 percent for the game and recorded 21 points off 21 New Orleans turnovers.

Marreese Speights added 13 points, Leandro Barbosa scored 12 and Andre Iguodala had 10 for the Warriors, who played without Klay Thompson (ankle).

"We have so much depth," Barnes said. "We can compensate for (injuries)."

Golden State, which has 38 double-digit victories, won for the ninth time in 10 tries and is unbeaten in the previous 11 games at home. Friday's win was Golden State's 55th of the season, which ties for second-most in franchise history, just shy of the 59 set during the 1975-76 campaign.

The Warriors are an amazing 32-2 at home and will close the residency Monday versus the Washington Wizards. They have won 17 straight home games against the West, a franchise record, and are 19-1 versus conference foes as the host.

The Warriors are 36-0 when holding opponents under 100 points this season and have reached the century mark in scoring six straight times.

After the Jazz had their six-game winning streak halted Wednesday at home against the Washington Wizards, they traveled to Los Angeles and defeated the Lakers, 80-73, on Thursday.

Gordon Hayward had 22 points, five assists, five rebounds and four steals to lead the Jazz. Trey Burke netted 17 points and Derrick Favors added 14 points and seven boards for the Jazz.

LA's Jordan Clarkson sunk a pair of foul shots to get the Lakers within 72-71 with 2:44 left, but the Jazz ended the game on an 8-2 run. A pair of Burke layups preceded two free throws from Hayward, which extended Utah's margin to 78-71 with a minute to play and the Jazz coasted from there.

"At the beginning of the fourth quarter, I looked in the huddle and we just were kinda, we looked like a team that got in at two in the morning, and had lost a tough game," Jazz coach Quin Snyder said. "And we just talked about it, and our guys just picked it up."

The Jazz are an impressive 12-3 since the All-Star break and play two straight at home after Saturday's game. They'll host the Minnesota Timberwolves and Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday and Wednesday.

The Jazz beat the Warriors by 10 in Salt Lake City on Jan. 30 to stop a six- game series losing streak. Golden State has won three in a row as the host over Utah.
