Clippers pull away from Pelicans

Mar 22, 2015 - 10:40 PM Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Chris Paul and Blake Griffin both scored 23 points and DeAndre Jordan was his usual dominant self on the glass as the Los Angeles Clippers took down the New Orleans Pelicans 107-100.

Paul added 11 assists, seven rebounds and four steals, Jordan grabbed 16 rebounds and J.J. Redick scored 20 points for the Clippers, winners in four straight.

The Clippers have won six straight games in which Redick has scored at least 20 points.

Anthony Davis posted 26 points and 12 rebounds for the Pelicans, but wasn't involved much down the stretch as Los Angeles pulled away. Eric Gordon came off the bench with 23 points.

"Their defense is pretty good at the rim, but we had too many senseless turnovers," Pelicans head coach Monty Williams said.

LA turned 18 Pelicans turnovers into 30 points.

New Orleans was unstoppable in the early going, scoring on its first six trips down the floor to take a 13-2 lead, but the Clippers answered.

Hedo Turkoglu's triple late in the first quarter gave the hosts their first lead. Then midway through the second, Paul and Griffin scored every point during an 11-0 run to make it 47-41.

The lead reached seven before Gordon hit back-to-back 3s and the Pelicans closed the half on an 8-0 run to take a 53-50 lead into the break.

Both teams shot 50 percent in the third, but the Clippers made four more field goals and won the period by seven. They also scored eight straight points to bridge the third and fourth quarters, and a late 7-0 run put the game out of reach.

"We got stops down the stretch and we found some plays that work for us offensively," Griffin said. "It was a good grind out win."
