Westbrook leads OKC into matchup with Lakers
Mar 24, 2015 - 2:40 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - Russell Westbrook and the Oklahoma City Thunder will close out a four-game homestand Tuesday versus the Los Angeles Lakers.The Thunder are 3-0 on the stay and have won eight of their last 11 games, including Sunday's 93-75 victory over the Miami Heat.
Westbrook came close to his 10th triple-double of the season and the NBA subtracted a rebound from his totals. He ended with 12 points, 17 assists and nine rebounds against the Heat.
Enes Kanter led all players with 27 points and 12 rebounds, and five other Thunder players reached double figures, including Mitch McGary with 14, Anthony Morrow with 12, and Dion Waiters and Steven Adams with 10 apiece.
"It was a balanced attack on both ends of the floor," said Thunder coach Scott Brooks.
Oklahoma City is 26-9 at home and sits eighth in the West standings, 2 1/2 games ahead of the Phoenix Suns. After hosting the Lakers, OKC will play three straight on the road against San Antonio, Utah and Phoenix.
Los Angeles will play the next five games on the road against Oklahoma City, Minnesota, Toronto, Brooklyn and Philadelphia. It is 7-26 away from home.
Lakers head coach Byron Scott will not be with the team after the death of his mother. Lakers assistant coach Paul Pressey will serve as acting head coach in Scott's absence.
The Lakers ended a four-game slide with Sunday's 101-87 victory over Philadelphia, as Jeremy Lin scored a season-high 29 points. Jordan Hill tallied 12 points with eight rebounds, while Wesley Johnson and Wayne Ellington each posted 10 points for Los Angeles.
"I think this was one of my best games here," said Lin. "Everything came together tonight. In the second half we came out with more defensive pressure. We needed this win."
LA won for the second time in 11 tries.
The Lakers are 0-2 against the Thunder this season and have lost three straight and six of the last seven meetings between the teams.
