Clippers target another win against 76ers

Mar 27, 2015 - 1:52 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Los Angeles Clippers will try to extend their winning streak to six games Friday night when they continue their road trip at the Wells Fargo Center against the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Clippers haven't lost since March 15 at home against the Houston Rockets. They've won two in a row on the road and close this late-season eastern swing in Boston on Sunday.

With this winning streak, LA has moved into fourth place in the Western Conference. The Clips are 1 1/2 games behind the Rockets for third, but only one game in front of the Portland Trail Blazers, who currently reside in fifth place.

On Wednesday, the Clippers began their road trip with an overwhelming, 111-80 victory over the New York Knicks.

Austin Rivers put up 21 points to lead Los Angeles at Madison Square Garden. Rivers hit his first nine shots before finally missing on his final attempt of the game.

J.J. Redick also scored at will prior to taking a seat along with the rest of Los Angeles' regulars late in the third quarter with the Clippers owning an insurmountable lead. He finished with 17 points.

Chris Paul racked up 16 assists and 11 points before his departure, with DeAndre Jordan posting 14 points and 10 rebounds in the Clippers' easy victory.

"Sometimes when you get leads like that you can just start trying stuff and messing with the game," Paul said. "We didn't do that."

The 76ers have won three of their last five including two straight at home. Their most recent victory halted a 16-game road losing streak on Wednesday - a 99-85 triumph over the Denver Nuggets.

Robert Covington had 25 points and six rebounds off the bench to pace Philadelphia.

The Sixers outscored the Nuggets 27-9 in the fourth quarter.

"To hold them to nine points ... that's a good effort," Sixers coach Brett Brown said.

Nerlens Noel posted 14 points, 15 rebounds and four blocks and Isaiah Canaan netted 15 points for Philadelphia. No other Sixers player scored in double figures for a team which shot 41 percent from long range.

The Sixers play four of their next five on the road following Friday's contest.

The Clippers have won six straight over the 76ers, including three in a row in the City of Brotherly Love.
