Raptors use balanced attack to beat Timberwolves
Apr 2, 2015 - 3:55 AM Minneapolis, MN (SportsNetwork.com) - Lou Williams had 18 points and three steals in the Toronto Raptors' 113-99 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday.DeMar DeRozan added 17 points for the Raptors, who have won three in a row. Terrence Ross and Jonas Valanciunas tallied 16 and 15 points, respectively.
Toronto, which had seven players score in double figures, went 13-of-30 from beyond the arc.
The fan support was noticed, and appreciated, by the players.
"Any time we're close to the border, we know we're gonna have fans make that drive," Ross said. "It's good, it's fun. Especially out in Minnesota, it's nowhere close to home, so to see the fans come out, it's nice."
Andrew Wiggins ended with 25 points, five rebounds and five assists for the Timberwolves, who have dropped five straight. Zach LaVine recorded 22 points and seven rebounds.
"We're just undermanned," Minnesota coach Flip Saunders said. "I feel bad for our players because we can't give them reinforcements to give them a little bit of rest. Those guys are just physically and mentally exhausted."
Ahead 31-27, the Raptors started the second quarter on a 19-4 run. Toronto made four 3-pointers during the surge that DeRozan capped with two free throws for a 50-31 lead.
Minnesota responded with an 11-2 burst to get within 52-42, but DeRozan made a 3-pointer and converted a technical free throw. The Raptors led 60-46 at the half.
Toronto led by as many as 31 in the second half.
