Clippers send Lakers to franchise-worst 56th loss

Apr 6, 2015 - 4:35 AM Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Blake Griffin scored 18 points, Chris Paul had 15 assists and the Los Angeles Clippers crushed the Los Angeles Lakers 106-78 on Sunday.

DeAndre Jordan posted 16 points, 11 rebounds and four steals for the Clippers, who never trailed against the Lakers and led by as many as 43. Matt Barnes had 14 points, while J.J. Redick and Hedo Turkoglu added 12 points apiece in the rout.

"Our defense took them out of the game tonight," Redick said.

Wesley Johnson had 16 points to pace the Lakers, who set a franchise record with their 56th loss of the season.

"When Chris and Blake turn it up a notch, we just couldn't turn it up with them," Lakers coach Byron Scott said.

Griffin scored 10 points in the first quarter and his dunk gave the Clippers 20-10 lead.

The Clippers pulled away with an 11-0 run after a Carlos Boozer free throw pulled the Lakers to within 28-22 early in the second quarter. Jordan dunked on a lob from Paul to cap the surge for a 39-22 Clippers advantage.

The Clippers were up 49-36 at halftime and their lead continued to grow following the break. Paul delivered a pass to Griffin for an alley-oop dunk to make it 81-52 late in the third quarter.

Game Notes

The Clippers shot 53.3 percent and made 15 3-pointers ... Tarik Black and Jabari Brown each scored 10 points for the Lakers.
