Wizards hope to stay hot in trip to Philly

Apr 8, 2015 - 2:22 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Washington Wizards shoot for a fourth straight win when they resume a three-game road trip Wednesday against the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Wizards opened the trek with a 92-83 victory over the tough Memphis Grizzlies, as Bradley Beal scored 20 points and John Wall collected 18 with 14 assists and six rebounds. Drew Gooden chipped in 16 points for the Wizards, who made 48 percent from the field.

"It was a great win for us," Wall said. "It was a great momentum boost for a lot of guys."

Washington is fifth in the East standings - one game behind Toronto and two in back of Chicago.

The Wizards are 16-21 on the road and will visit Brooklyn on Friday.

Wizards forward Nene (personal) is questionable against the Sixers.

Philadelphia is mired in a six-game losing streak and went 0-3 on a recent road trip, which culminated with Sunday's 101-91 loss at New York.

Ish Smith supplied 17 points and seven assists, while Hollis Thompson also had 17 points and both Nerlens Noel and Robert Covington added 14 points.

"We give them credit, they executed well at the end," Sixers coach Brett Brown said of the Knicks.

The Sixers are 12-26 at home and will visit Chicago on Saturday.

Philadelphia has lost two of three meetings with Washington this season and is only 1-5 in the last six games in this series.
