Thompson scores 42 as Warriors down Grizzlies

Apr 14, 2015 - 5:34 AM Oakland, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Klay Thompson scored 26 of his 42 points in the second quarter to lift the Golden State Warriors over the Memphis Grizzlies, 111-107, on Monday night.

Thompson went 15-of-20 from the floor and 8-of-10 from beyond the arc for the Warriors (66-15), who improved to 38-2 at home this season. Stephen Curry added 15 points and eight assists before sitting out the entire fourth quarter for the 18th time this season.

Jordan Adams ended with 19 points for the Grizzlies, who sit sixth in the Western Conference. Russ Smith tallied 16 points.

All-Star center Marc Gasol (ankle) and forward Jeff Green (back) played through injuries, while point guard Mike Conley (foot) and swingman Tony Allen (hamstring) sat out.

Ahead 13-10, the Warriors created some distance with a 12-2 run. Curry tallied seven points during the surge that Thompson capped with a 3-pointer for a 25-12 edge. It was 36-21 after one quarter.

Thompson went off in the second, going 10-of-13 from the field and 6-of-7 from beyond the arc to make it 68-46 at the half.

Golden State led by 32 points in the third quarter before resting its regulars. Memphis moved within four in the final seconds to make things interesting.

Gasol had just six points and four rebounds in 21 minutes ... The Warriors shot 52 percent from the field ... Memphis hosts Indiana in Wednesday's season finale, while the Warriors host Denver on Wednesday.
