Warriors rout Grizzlies, even series at 2-2

May 12, 2015 - 4:30 AM Memphis, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - For the first time in this series, Steph Curry has looked like an MVP.

Curry scored 33 points with eight rebounds and five assists, and the Warriors took back homecourt advantage with a 101-84 win over the Grizzlies in Monday's Game 4 of this Western Conference semifinal.

The Warriors had dropped two straight in the series since Curry accepted his MVP trophy last Monday. It was just their second two-game losing skid since January.

Curry's poor shooting in those games -- 7-for-19 in Game 2 and 8-for-21 in Game 3 -- was a big reason for Golden State's struggles. But he got back on track in a big way on Monday, and the team bounced back with him.

The Warriors shot 6-for-26 from behind the arc in both of their previous losses. They found the range, finishing 14-for-33 in this one while limiting Memphis to just 4-for-18.

Draymond Green added 16 points and 10 rebounds and Klay Thompson scored 15 for the Warriors.

"I want them to be satisfied with the effort," said Warriors coach Steve Kerr. "But I want them to be hungry to improve, and I want them to understand that nothing has happened yet. It's 2-2."

Marc Gasol paced the Grizzlies with 19 points, 10 rebounds and six assists in their first home loss of the playoffs.

The series shifts back to Oakland's Oracle Arena for Game 5 on Wednesday.

The Warriors jumped out to a big halftime lead in large part due to their strong play at the end of the first and second quarters. Curry's deep triple just before the clock hit zero in the first capped a 10-2 run that made it 28-20.

"We were chasing our tail a little bit, especially in the first half," said Memphis coach Dave Joerger. "Hats off to them. I thought we lost our composure early in the first half."

Memphis got as close as six in the second on Gasol's tip at the 8:08 mark. Then it became the Curry show.

Curry capped a personal 6-0 run with a transition slam that extended the margin to 14. His three-point play and a David Lee layup accounted ended the half and sent the visitors into halftime with a 61-44 advantage.

Golden State's 3-point barrage in the third quarter limited any hopes of a comeback and took the home crowd entirely out of the game. Curry and Thompson each hit a pair in the period, with their back-to-back makes just past the midpoint extending the Warriors' lead to 25. It reached 26 on an Andre Iguodala triple moments later.

Memphis did nothing in the fourth to put the final result in doubt.

The Warriors improved to 51-0 on the season when leading by 15-plus points at any point in the game ... Zach Randolph posted 12 points and 11 rebounds. It was his first time failing to score 20 points in this series, but first double-double.
