Roy, Pierce honored by NBA

Dec 17, 2007 - 10:08 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Brandon Roy has the young Portland Trail Blazers playing some of their best basketball in recent memory.

Roy was honored along with Boston Celtics forward Paul Pierce as the Western Conference and Eastern Conference Players of the Week, respectively.

It is the second straight weekly honor for Roy, who averaged 23.0 points, 6.3 assists and 4.5 rebounds to help Portland to a 4-0 mark and its first seven-game winning streak since 2002.

The reigning Rookie of the Year, Roy also earned the award last week as he averaged 25.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists.

Roy's best performance came Sunday, when he scored 26 points and dished out a career-best 11 assists in a 116-105 win over Denver.

Pierce's week was highlighted by a 32-point performance in a win over Milwaukee in which he hit 5-of-11 3-pointers.
