Rockets F Wells out Friday

Jan 12, 2008 - 2:12 AM HOUSTON (Ticker) -- Houston Rockets forward Bonzi Wells received a medical injection to his left shoulder at The Roger Clemens Institute on Friday to treat a sprain and will not play against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

He is expected to start practicing again on Saturday.

Wells has averaged 10.1 points and 5.5 rebounds in 35 games this season, his second with the Rockets.

He played in just 28 contests last season while battling numerous injuries and had an ongoing rift with former coach Jeff Van Gundy, who placed him on the inactive list for much the campaign.

Wells' injury is the latest for the Rockets, who have been without superstar Tracy McGrady (knee). But has gone 6-2 and played some of its best basketball of the season with McGrady, who was told Friday that he will miss three more games.
