Heat, G Richardson agree on four-year extension

Sep 13, 2017 - 11:29 PM The Miami Heat reached agreement with guard Josh Richardson on a four-year, $42 million contract extension, ESPN reported Wednesday.

The deal includes a player option on the fourth year.

Before agreeing to the extension, Richardson had been scheduled to become a restricted free agent after this season.

Richardson, a 6-foot-6 shooting guard, had an ankle injury that limited him to 53 games last season, but he started 34 of those games and averaged 10.2 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists.

As a rookie in 2015-16, he averaged 6.6 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 52 games, including two starts.

Richardson, who turns 24 on Friday, was the 40th pick in the 2015 NBA draft out of Tennessee, but he has gained respect in the NBA a two-way player.
