Wizards' Morris to miss 6-8 weeks after sports hernia surgery
Sep 22, 2017 - 10:05 PM Washington Wizards forward Markieff Morris underwent sports hernia surgery and is expected to miss six-to-eight weeks, the team announced Friday.The timetable means Morris will miss at least the first six games of the 2017-18 season and perhaps up to month.
The Wizards said in a statement that the surgery "went as expected."
Morris was slated to begin rehabbing the injury immediately.
The 28-year-old Morris averaged a career-best 14.0 points to go with 6.5 rebounds for Washington last season.
Morris is also facing felony charges -- along with twin brother Marcus of the Boston Celtics -- for a 2015 incident in Phoenix involving former family acquaintance Erik Hood. The Morris brothers are each facing two counts of aggravated assault.
