Pelicans G Allen sidelined with leg injury
Dec 13, 2017 - 12:00 AM The New Orleans Pelicans' injury issues got worse on Tuesday when the team announced that reserve guard Tony Allen will be sidelined three to four weeks because of a nondisplaced left proximal fibula fracture.Allen, who turns 36 next month, left Sunday's game after just one minute on the floor, and he did not play Monday against the Houston Rockets.
His injury is to the lower leg, near the ankle.
Known primarily for his defensive prowess, Allen's playing time has been reduced to just 12.4 minutes per game this season, and he is averaging just 4.7 points.
Last season with the Memphis Grizzlies, Allen started 66 of the 71 games he played and averaged 9.1 points.
Jrue Holiday and E'Twaun Moore probably will be asked to play more minutes as a result of Allen's absence.
A bigger issue is the injury to Pelicans forward Anthony Davis. He has missed four of the past six games and is questionable for Wednesday night's game due to a left adductor injury.
No one has shouted yet.
