Jazz C Gobert, F Favors exit with injuries

Dec 16, 2017 - 3:58 AM BOSTON -- Forward Derrick Favors became the second Utah Jazz player to leave Friday night's game against the Boston Celtics in the first half, joining teammate Rudy Gobert in the locker room.

Favors, who had six points and three rebounds, took an apparent blow just above his left eye with 4:06 left in the second quarter while committing a foul on Jaylen Brown.

Favors is averaging 12.3 points and 6.7 rebounds this season.

Gobert left early in the first quarter with a left knee injury and was declared out for the game soon thereafter.

Gobert, who had played just five games since returning from missing 11 games with a right tibia contusion, fell over teammate Favors while vying for a rebound just 1:49 into the game.

Gobert was on his back as trainers arrived and was then helped to his feet. He was assisted off the court but seemed to be walking better as he headed for the locker room.

The big man came into the game averaging 12.2 points and 10.1 rebounds. He also suffered a knee injury in last year's playoffs.

In addition to the two Utah players, Boston's Daniel Theis left the game in the first quarter with a facial injury.
