Aug 12, 2021 - 11:18 AMAs summer league plays out in Las Vegas, NV, veteran and established players are crisscrossing the league as the summer has offered no shortage of player movement. With player moves come moves in the futures market as the season is just a few months away and teams are jockeying position on the boards.
Let’s take a closer look at where the value remains as summer comes to a close.

You didn’t think Pat Riley and company would be down for long, did you?
A strong roster that made it to the finals in 2019 took a significant step forward this summer with the signing of some quality free agents that place them immediately in a win-now mode in the East. Starting with the three-year deal of point guard Kyle Lowry, the Heat also grabbed PJ Tucker, who was instrumental in the Bucks playoff run this season.
Additionally, the Heat picked up forward Markieff Morris, a scrappy veteran who took the veterans minimum, clearly recognizing this team has the pieces to compete for the title.
In addition to their adds, the Heat locked up their future in the re-signing of Jimmy Butler and Duncan Robinson. While Butler has been established as one of the league’s best players, Robinson took a big step forward this season on both sides of the ball, but specifically on defense being as his rating jumped throughout the course of the season.
The Heat also benefit from having one of the best coaching duos in league history at the helm in Erik Spoelstra and Pat Riley. Who, along with the free agents brought in this summer, have a host of young talent coming through the ranks who should all take another step forward this season.
While the Net’s are the deserved favorites, I think the Heat’s odds will continue to shrink as the season gets closer and the public realizes just how stacked Miami is once again.
