This week is always a fun to watch in the NBA. The trade deadline ended yesterday, and there are a few winners and losers. These trades will impact betting trends from the beginning of the season. Teams like the Cavs instantly got better, adding Caris LeVert. LeVert has experience playing with guys on the team and adds a needed guard. Then there are trades that we won’t know the impact of until later into the season or even future years. Those are the teams bettors will want to avoid for a few weeks.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are a team that has been great all season. They have great big men that dominate that paint. Until the Pacers prove they can win against the best teams in the NBA, the advantage goes to the Cavs.

Both of these teams have been up and down all season. When teams are inconsistent, that means anyone can win. The Hawks are heating up right now, but most of their wins are close games. That means the Spurs have the advantage with an eight-point betting spread. The Spurs have been keeping games close, too. They lost to the Suns by 5, Grizzlies by 8, and Warriors by 4. These games are important because they are the best teams in the league right now, and the Spurs were in every game. Until the Hawks prove they can be consistent, the Spurs are the better bet tonight.

Tatum is averaging 25.5 points per game, and the last time he scored over 28 points was against the Pelicans on January 29th. Tonight they go up against the Denver Nuggets, who are one of the better defensive teams in the league. That means opportunities will be limited, and Tatum will have to do something he hasn’t done in two weeks. Betting the under is a value play tonight.
