CHARLOTTE HORNETS @ MILWAUKEE BUCKS – NBA TV @ 8:00 EST

We have 2 teams coming in very hot to this matchup, with the Charlotte Hornets scoring 1^st in 6 of their last 8, and the Milwaukee Bucks scoring 1^st in 7 of their last 10.

This will be the 3^rd matchup of the year between the Bucks and Hornets, with the Hornets having scored 1^st in all 3 games (1x – Hayward, Bridges, Plumlee). Mason Plumlee has jumped against Bobby Portis in 2 of those games, winning the tip in both of them. In Charlottes last 11 road games, they’ve gotten an attempt at 1st basket in all 11. With that said, I’ll be looking at Charlotte to play today.

The usage rate for Miles Bridges early has been pretty incredible, as he’s taken an attempt to make Charlottes 1^st basket in 7 of their last 8. He’s cashed 1^st basket in 3 of those 8. Even though he’s sitting at +500, he’s worth a look every night with the way Charlotte’s been going to him early. He will be a top play.

Surprisingly, the Power Forward is the position that scores the most 1^st baskets against the Bucks. 2^nd on that list is the SGs. In the last 10 games that Charlotte has cashed a 1^st basket, it’s been Terry Rozier or Miles Bridges in 8 of them (Bridges 6x, Rozier 2x). I’ll be doubling down on Charlotte players being the top plays of the night. I think there’s great value on Plumlee & Rozier.

The Bucks have scored 1^st at Home in 8 of their last 10. If the Bucks get an attempt at 1^st basket, I’ll be looking at Bobby Portis +750 as the guy I’d play. In the last 6 games that Charlotte has been scored on 1^st, it’s be a Center in 4 of them. Portis’ usage rate has gone down a bit over the past few weeks for the Bucks, but I’d still expect him to get involved early considering Plumlee is not a good early game defender.
