NBA Playoffs Parlay Odds & Picks for Monday, May 23 (2022)

The Heat will look to return to Miami on Wednesday with a 3-1 series lead following tonight after a hot start carried them to a Game 3 victory in Boston. With injuries rampant on both teams, where does the value lie ahead of tonight’s opening tip?

Let’s take a closer look.

Leg #1. Heat +7 | -110 at DK Sportsbook

Despite the second-half absence of superstar Jimmy Butler, the early cushion the Heat built in Game 3, which included 8 points from Butler, was enough to sustain them down the stretch as they held off a late Celtics push. The Heat benefited greatly from point guard Kyle Lowry’s return to action, as the former All-Star scored 11 points in just his second game of the postseason (hamstring) and first of the series.

Bam Adebayo, however, led all Heat scorers and rebounders with 41 points and 10 boards in a game-high 41.5 minutes of play.

Going up 39-14 in the first quarter, the Heat seemingly made everything and capitalized off of a plethora of Celtics turnovers in a game they looked largely lost in. Turning the ball over a playoff-high 24 games, the Celtics will need to get it together and quickly if they want to avoid a 3-1 deficit to start the week.

The Celtics will also need to get their own superstar going in Jayson Tatum, who scored just 10 points in 40 minutes of play Saturday while dealing with a stinger. While I like the Celtics to have enough late to edge out this win at home, I think Butler and Lowry can keep it closer with Bam playing at the level he is down low.

Leg #2. Under 206 |  -110 at DK Sportsbook

With Butler and Lowry expected to suit up for this game despite their injuries, the Sixth Man of the Year Tyler Herro has been ruled out with a groin injury. While the total has already dropped from 208 in reflection of this news, I don’t think it’s enough, and grabbing this under while it lasts.

Averaging just 19.1 points per game during the regular season, I expect Adebayo’s production to regress in this spot, and for Tatum to get back to cooking as well. With the Heat’s newfound weapon in Max Strus also dealing with an injury (hamstring), I’m not sure where the Heats point production comes from and instead see an extra emphasis on the defense.

Look for a low scoring affair that is a much closer game than the first three, primarily because of the defensive effort of both sides.
