NBA Playoffs Parlay Odds & Picks for Friday, May 27 (2022)

May 27, 2022 - 1:58 PM

The Boston Celtics will play for a spot in the NBA Finals tonight at home, hoping the fifth time is the charm as the last four attempts have ended in defeat. Two of those series, including in 2018, saw the Celtics go up 3-2 only to lose Game 6 and Game 7. Will tonight be different against an ailing Miami Heat team?

Let’s take a closer look at where the value lies ahead of the opening tip.

DraftKings NBA Playoffs

Leg #1. Heat +8.5 | -110 at DK Sportsbook

The absence of Sixth Man of the Year Tyler Herro has been crushing for this Heat team, who in the past two games without him have averaged just 81 points. While Herro’s agent will be soon to point that out this summer, the Heat have also suffered from a cold-shooting streak unlike they have seen all season long.

Since Jimmy Butler’s 41-point performance to start the series, he’s also gone ice-cold as he deals with a (knee) injury of his own. Over the past two games, Butler has averaged just 9.5 points per while shooting 22 percent from the field. The Heat have also been dealing with a cold streak from their three other scorers in Kyle Lowry, Max Strus, and Victor Oladipo, who in Game 5 shot just 4.5 percent from the field on 22 shots.

This number has come down from its opener of +9 which I think we continue to see throughout the day, especially if Herro is upgraded from questionable or something leaks that he’s playing. His presence on the floor alone should give this Heat team the spark they need to keep this one close as veteran Hall of Fame coach Erik Spoelstra isn’t going down without a dogfight.

Leg #2. Over 201 |  -110 at DK Sportsbook

This is one of the lowest totals we’ve seen all NBA postseason, and I understand the rash of injuries to both teams, but it’s gotten a bit out of hand. It’s very unlikely the Heat will go 7 of 45 and 32 percent from the field again as they did in Game 5, as they have too many scoring threats to justify zero regression.

Prior to the past two games which were bizarrely lacking in offense from both sides, these two played the first three games of the series over in three straight games, with the total scoring averaging 222 points per game. While injuries will no doubt again play a factor tonight in a pivotal Game 6, I like for big games from the stars to create plenty of open looks for both teams with a chance to reach the Finals (or vacation) on the line for the top two teams in the East.
