NBA Futures Bets: Best Odds & Picks for 2022-23 NBA Champion

We are just hours removed from the Golden State Warriors claiming their fourth championship in eight seasons as our attention shifts quickly to the 2023 season. With the NBA Draft yet to happen and free agency sure to shake up the landscape, let’s take a closer look at two teams I think have value to get to and win the 2023 NBA Finals.

Golden State Warriors (+460)

With the Splash Brothers only getting stronger this season with Jordan Poole joining Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry as a great shooter, all while Andrew Wiggins and Draymond Green looked as good as they have in their entire career; how can the Warriors not be the favorite to repeat? They’ve also seemed to find something with the defensive prowess of Gary Payton II who turned into one of the team’s best front-court defenders this season.

Assuming they’ll be able to keep their role players such as Otto Porter Jr. and Kevon Looney, the Warriors have a championship roster and coaching staff for years to come. While health will always be a concern for a team full of fitness and agility-focused players, the Warriors have a great shot of getting back to the NBA Finals once again in 2023.

And who has more experience there than them?

Miami Heat (+1500)

I was on the Heat to win the NBA Finals this season, and if they don’t lose Tyler Herro for the Eastern Conference Finals, I firmly believe they at least get there. Speaking of Herro, his extension (or lack thereof) will likely be the difference next season, as the reigning Sixth Man of the Year will be seeking a max extension. PJ Tucker is also a deciding factor, as he has the option of a player option coming into next season.

With the core of Jimmy Butler, Lowry and Oladipo coming back, my bet is Pat Riley and the Heat’s front office find a way to make it work with Herro and Tucker, especially a player in Tucker on the tail end of his career in search of a ring. With head coach Erik Spoelstra at the helm, in my opinion, one of the best coaches in the league, the Heat should have all the pieces back to get back to the Eastern Conference Finals and this time punch their ticket to the next phase.
