Dean Wade, per the Cleveland Cavaliers, left Friday night’s game against the Orlando Magic with a shoulder injury.

Wade started for the Cavs, playing just over 10 minutes in the first half. In his minutes, he zero points on 0-1 shooting from the field to go with 1 steal. He was replaced in the opening five-man lineup by Mamadi Diakite.

At the time of publication, it’s unclear when or how Wade’s injury occurred and how severe it is. He was not on the bench with the rest of the team for the second half for whatever that’s worth.

Wade’s injury is a blow because it seemed like the Cavs were finally getting healthy aside from Ricky Rubio’s ongoing ACL recovery and Jarrett Allen’s hip/lower back injury. On Friday, Kevin Love returned from a multi-game absence (he’s dealing with a hairline fracture in his thumb) and Lamar Stevens returned after a non-COVID illness. Earlier this week, Caris LeVert returned from an ankle sprain that had him on the sidelines for multiple games.

On the season, Wade is averaging 6.8 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. Before the season, he signed a three-year extension with the Cavs.
