Wade out 3-4 weeks due to left shoulder sprain

Per a release from the team, forward Dean Wade will miss 3-4 weeks with a AC joint sprain his left shoulder. The release from the team was as follows:
Cavaliers forward Dean Wade will be out approximately 3-4 weeks after sustaining a left shoulder injury in the first half of Friday night’s win over Orlando at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. Examination postgame and imaging taken yesterday at Cleveland Clinic Sports Health confirmed an AC joint sprain. Wade will now undergo a period of treatment and rehabilitation and his status will be updated as appropriate.
Wade, as noted in the announcement, was injured in the first half of the Cavs’ Friday win over the Magic. He started the game and was replaced in the second half by forward Mamadi Diakite. Wade missed time earlier this season with a knee injury.
After the game, Cavs head coach J.B. Bickerstaff was asked about Wade’s injury and said that he’s been dealing with a shoulder issue for some time.
“He’s just been playing through it,” Bickerstaff said. “But he got hit again on it and it was just too much.”
This injury puts a dent in a Cleveland rotation that just got Kevin Love and Lamar Stevens back on Friday. Wade, who signed a three-year extension with Cleveland before the season, is a key depth piece. He’s both started and come off of the bench, playing a career-high 24.1 minutes per night as a three and a four. For the year, he’s averaging 6.4 points per game while shooting 45.2% from the field and 41.1% from three to go with 4.1 rebounds and 1 assist per game.
While Wade is out, look for Diakite, a two-way player, to continue to remain with the Cavs instead of playing with the Cleveland Charge. Also expect Stevens to remain in the rotation for the foreseeable future.
